Taping

Kinesiology Taping (Kinesiotaping)

Support, Stability, and Recovery Without Limiting Movement

Kinesiology Taping, often called Kinesiotaping, is a therapeutic taping technique used by physical therapists to support injured or weak muscles and joints. Unlike traditional athletic tape, kinesiology tape is flexible and designed to move with your body, offering support while still allowing for full range of motion.

At The Therapy Network, our specialists use taping as part of a comprehensive physical therapy program to reduce pain, improve performance, and promote faster recovery.

Benefits of Kinesiology Taping

Kinesiotaping can provide a wide range of recovery and performance benefits. Patients often experience:

  • Injury prevention by stabilizing joints and muscles
  • Improved performance through support of weak or fatigued muscles
  • Reduced pain and swelling during activity or daily movement
  • Better posture and alignment
  • Increased circulation and healing
  • Reduced cramping and muscle fatigue
  • Relaxation of overworked muscles

Conditions That May Benefit From Kinesiotaping

Kinesiology Taping can help patients recovering from:

  • Sports injuries
  • Post-surgical swelling
  • Back and neck pain
  • Shoulder and rotator cuff injuries
  • Knee pain (including runner’s knee)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Muscle strains and joint sprains

What to Expect at The Therapy Network

At your first visit, a TTN therapist will evaluate your condition, review your medical history, and design a personalized recovery plan. If taping is appropriate for your condition, your therapist will apply it in-clinic and may also teach you how to safely apply kinesiology tape at home.

Your plan may also include exercises, manual therapy, or other specialized techniques for long-term results.

The Therapy Network has convenient locations throughout Coastal Virginia, including Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake, so expert care is always close to home. No physician referral is needed to begin treatment.
