Our Story

The Therapy Network began in 1987 with one bold idea: physical therapy should never be a luxury. At the time, patients waited weeks for appointments, and many physicians viewed PT as optional. Founder Robert Maroon, PT, knew things had to change. He built a model around immediate access, specialized care, and a belief that physical therapy is essential to recovery—not an add-on.
He wasn’t alone. Early partners like Erik Wijtmans, PT, MTC, CGIMS, CMTPT/DN, Peter Owens, PT, and Laurie Johnson, PT, CMTPT/DN, shared his belief in compassionate, expert-led care. Together, they shaped a culture built on clinical excellence, individualized treatment, and exceptional patient experiences. From spine and orthopedic rehab to neurological and post- surgical recovery, The Therapy Network was created to put patients first—and deliver results that truly matter.
In 2020, that commitment came full circle when TTN became a proudly employee-owned practice through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Rather than sell the company, the founders passed their legacy to the people who helped build it. Now, every therapist and team member is not just delivering care—they’re personally invested in your recovery and in the health of our local communities. The mission continues to grow, driven by the same values of access, compassion, and personalized care that started it all.
