Brian Hemmis, DPT, is a physical therapist specializing in the treatment of myofascial pain syndrome, with a focused interest in conditions affecting the neck, shoulders, headaches, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. A native of Richmond, Virginia, he earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Old Dominion University in 2023.
Brian is a Myopain-certified dry needling practitioner and has pursued advanced training in temporomandibular disorder (TMD) evaluation and treatment, including coursework under Michael Kareageanes. His clinical approach emphasizes targeted, evidence-based interventions to address complex musculoskeletal pain patterns.
In addition to his outpatient orthopedic expertise, Brian has experience in skilled nursing care at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital. There, he worked with patients presenting with low-level functional status, including those recovering from cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), neurologic conditions, and post-operative procedures such as knee and hip surgeries. This diverse background supports his comprehensive and patient-centered approach to rehabilitation across a wide range of conditions.
In his spare time, Brian enjoys staying active and engaged in his community. He competes in HYROX, a CrossFit-style fitness competition, and plays softball, pickleball, and bingo. He also values time spent with his two fur babies, Huffle and Puff.
